These were monitored for the development of infection and objective signs of disease on the day before getting the rhinovirus, and for five consecutive days after. The results were dramatic. Individuals sleeping an average of less than seven hours a night had almost a three times better incidence of virus development than did those who slept eight hours or more. When sleep effectiveness was considered, those participants with rest efficiencies averaging 92 percent had been five and one-half times more likely to have developed a virus in comparison to people that have a 98 percent average rest efficiency ranking.Both individuals were observed to have subjective and objective improvement shortly after receiving the first dosage of the antibody cocktail, but this improvement occurred in the context of receiving other care aswell. Studies in animals have shown a survival benefit for ZMapp even when treatment was initiated after the onset of symptoms.10 However, there are no data on the safety or efficacy of ZMapp in humans. Clinical improvement in these patients could possess resulted from a direct effect of the antibodies, from improvement in fluid status through increased oncotic pressure, or from other unidentified factors.
